This little ditty is
in reaction to all
these songs i've been
hearing lately by guys
goin' "check out my
new jungle track
Acid.!!"
and have the track
end up being some
kinda weird experimen-
tation with elevator
music and drumloops
gone crazy. heh :)
Anyways, I hope this
XM clears up better
defines what makes
a proper jungle track
as opposed to break-
beat.
Part A is an example
of BreakBeat.
defined by the simple
sped up hip-hop loop
repeating over and
over being interrupted
by a simple backspin
effect. Thats breakbt
Part B is JUNGLE.
Characterised by the
hip-hop loop being
physically chopped
up and manipulated.
Notice in how the loop
evolves through pat-
terns 6 and 7 with
pattern 7 changing the
structure slightly not
to ruin the groove but
make it more listenabl
Some jungle toons also
have nice fat rolling
basslines which could
constitute as a melody
in itself.. These bass
lines can also be
found in Breakbeat,
especially around the
'92 '93 'Dark' era
when break was evol-
ving into its more art
-istic brother Jungle.
Anyways, I hope this
helps anyone interes-
ted.
